What is the difference between a hoodie and a sweatshirt? A hoodie has a hood, usually a front pocket, and often a drawstring, while a sweatshirt is a plain pullover or crewneck with no hood at all. Beyond that, they are built from similar fabric and serve a similar purpose, warmth and comfort, but the hood adds extra coverage on windy walks or early morning coffee runs when you would rather not deal with a hat blowing off in the wind, or in your face on the way out the door each morning.
